The North Western Fells
The North Western Fells are located between Bassenthwaite Lake, Derwent Water and Borrowdale to the East and Buttermere and Crummock Water to the West, while the Southern boundary is the Honister Pass. These fells are noted for their steep grassy slopes, rocky summits and fine ridges overlooking some of the Lake District's most beautiful lakes and valleys. The range includes two of the great circular walks of the lakes; the Coledale Horshoe and the Newlands Round. The highest peak in the North Western Fells is Grasmoor, at 852 metresm.

The North Western Fells was the sixth of seven books that Alfred Wainwright wrote in his bestselling walkers guidebook series, A Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells. Wainwright originally thought the books wouldn't be very successful but the public loved them and still do to this day, spending many hours pouring over the words and intricate drawings of each fell.
